Health situation in the occupied Palestinian territory

Recording of the session. DRAFT RESOLUTION

At the request of 15 Member States, this  Special Session of the WHO Executive Board was held in WHO Headquarters, Geneva, in a hybrid format.   Sunday 10 December 2023 to  consider the health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territory.

WHO: The Executive Board is composed of 34 members technically qualified in the field of health. Members are elected for three-year terms. The main functions of the Board are to give effect to the decisions and policies of the World Health Assembly, to advise it and generally to facilitate its work, as well as to prepare the agenda of the next World Health Assembly.

 Special Session of the WHO EB with the reports by the WHO Secretariat and an intensive day of discussions among EB members and member states on the terrible situation in Gaza resulted with a resolutio proposed by Afghanistan, Morocco, Qatar and Yemen, in its revised draft version, and after hard negotiations, was seen by all EB members as acceptable and therefore approved by consensus.   See the difficulty in the  “explanations of positions” and the “right of reply” statements at the end of the session.   Civil society (one-minute) statements start 1.51.00,
