With our partners in IBFAN (the International Baby Food Action Network) we monitor the baby food industry around the world according to the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes and Subsequent relevant World Health Assembly Resolutions.

Up until 2020, global reports and legal updates were produced regularly by  IBFAN’s International Code Documentation Centre (ICDC)  in Penang.  See the global monitoring page for the reports and guides.  Since the closure of the Penang Office IBFAN’s regional and national offices are taking over the production of monitoring reports.

IBFAN partners WHO and UNICEF in the production of Biennial reports on National Implementation of the International Code and Resolutions. The 2016 Report is here. The 2018 Report is here. The 2020 report is here The 2022 report will be published in May.

IBFAN is also a founder member of the WHO’s Netcode  – Network for Global Monitoring and Support for Implementation of the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes and Subsequent relevant World Health Assembly Resolutions (NetCode). The goal of NetCode is to strengthen Member States’ and civil society capacity to monitor the International Code and relevant WHA resolutions.

In the UK, together with the Baby Feeding Law Group (BFLG),  we help monitor the baby food industry.  The BFLG is  now administered by the First Steps Nutrition Trust.  See our UK monitoring page for more on the marketing rules and how to report violations.  Working within the WHO Code section
