UK accession to Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) Inquiry

Following the announcement of the UK’s accession on 16 July, the UK  International Agreements Committee is reactivating its inquiry into CPTPP and is gathering new evidence, regarding the potential benefits and disadvantages, and provisions for key UK sectors..

Along with many NGOs,  Milk Action IBFAN UK has  made a submission, highlighting our concerns that are based on many years experience in Trade discussions, particularly at Codex.  We  share the  concerns  of the Trade Justice Movement and other NGOs about the inclusion of the Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) mechanism  in CPTPP and the lack of an overarching, planetary and health protective trade strategy.
